Analogue Foundation Presents Vibrations
Vibrations is a wellbeing day retreat event set to explore the rejuvenating and healing power of sound and music at Giant Steps.This will be the first of it's kind, bringing yoga, meditation, sound bath, DJs and live music all under one roof.
YOGAHOOD - Sanchia Legister
Sanchia Legister is a qualified yoga teacher and known for her popular underground Yogahood and Gyal Flex, Vinyasa flow classes. She is also a well-known member of the global urban running movement Run Dem Crew. After feeling frustrated with the lack of diversity in yoga settings and tight hamstrings, she decided to do something about it. She now brings her signature afro, big smile and good vibes to the mat, with a playlist more likely found in your yard or the club, in the hope of bringing yoga to the people dem.
Alex Rita (Balamii/Touching Bass) — the Copenhagen-born, London-based selector, illustrator, singer and designer — is a talented seamstress in more ways than one. Her passion for stitching together patchworks of percussive grooves and organic sounds stemmed from her regular NTS show and the ever-growing community of South London artists is paving an exciting new culture. Listeners can be blessed with everything from spiritual jazz and soul to broken beat and warm house grooves in one sitting.
Alex will be teaming up with Yogahood to supply a specially selected playlist for the morning yoga session as well as joining The Steam Down Family Affair later in the evening.
Joseph Yanaku (Sound Bath)
Joseph Yanaku is a musician and sound therapist based in East London. Playing a mixture of gongs, crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, therapeutic percussion and incorporating voice Joseph’s Sonic Sessions are rich in texture.
The aim of Joseph’s work is to gently nudge you in the direction of your elemental self and towards a deeper understanding of the vibrational universe in which we live.
Olmo Cassibba (Midday Meditation NTS)
Olmo Cassibba is a multi-instrumentalist/producer and DJ, mainly drawn to tabla, sax and percussion as his chosen tools of expression, hailing from a background in Jazz and Indian Classical music. He is influenced by a wide array of genres and styles and has been playing professionally for over 15 years. He has performed with a variety of artists including Groves Guru, Cut Collective, Surinder Singh, and Alexia Chellun to name but a few. In recent years he expanded his repertoire into electronic and contemporary music, collaborating with producer Flako and House Producer Oliver Night and has also featured on Roots Manuva's '4everevolution' as well as EVM128's recent album 'Nova'. Currently, he is in the process of completing his self-composed and produced debut solo EP due for release in early 2019.
Steam Down Family Affair
Steam Down is an arts collective, weekly live music night based in Deptford and a burgeoning label platforming artists such as Brother Portrait, And.Is.Phi and Alex Rita. Every session is a co-creative experience between musicians and audience where everyone's participation matters. Steam Down Family Affair creates an immersive experience that is complimented by the exuberant energy of the steam down family who show up regularly to bring vibes and support.Together the musicians and the participants who show up and get down, go on a aural exploration of past-present-future
Layla (Arale/You’re A Melody)
Layla is a London-based producer, composer and DJ who often spins at Floating Point's infamous 'You're A Melody' parties, and also guests on NTS, Boilerroom TV and Worldwide.fm radio. Her productions have received support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Benji B, CDR and Stamp The Wax
