We are thinking back to an installation Motoi Yamamoto did for the Setouchi Triennale in 2016. Yamamoto’s work involves incredibly intricate labrythtine salt interventions. For the Setouchi Triennale he covered the second floor of a traditional family home on Takamijima with an ethereal web of salt. Entitled, ‘floating garden’ artist created the installation by hand over many painstaking hours, rhythmically pouring salt in a specific pattern that mimics the bubbles and movements of the ocean surface.
